Historical uniforms made for you, with full respect for the period

Every uniform tells a story. Yours, but also that of a corps, a regiment, a precise era.
At Uniformes d’Empire, I create bespoke pieces for historical re-enactment: First Empire, Second Empire, gendarmerie, infantry, cavalry…
Every detail matters, and each piece is built from your measurements and your documentation.

No standard production: here, every uniform truly passes through my hands.

Historical uniforms made with full respect for the period

A simple, clear and rigorous working method

✔ Project review

You send me your documents: plates, archives, photos, period descriptions.
On my side, I complete them with my own references (technical publications, original pieces, museum sources) to ensure an accurate reproduction.

✔ Measurements

A period cut never falls like a modern jacket.
A full set of measurements helps restore historical proportions: shoulder line, shaping, length, ease…
It is essential to achieve a silhouette consistent with the era.

✔ Handcraft production in the workshop

I handle the cutting, assembly, structuring, finishing and adjustments.
For leather, passementerie or metalwork pieces (buckles, plates, buttons), I work with specialised craftsmen able to reproduce period techniques.

The goal: a reliable, coherent and durable piece that respects the documentation you provide.

Uniforms and components I make to measure

Complete uniforms or individual pieces:

  • coats, jackets, overcoats, military greatcoats
  • tailcoats and waistcoats
  • regulation breeches and trousers
  • epaulettes, sword knots, aiguillettes
  • belts, shoulder straps, cartridge boxes
  • shakos, képis, hats, colbacks, bearskin caps
  • buttons, plates, buckles in gilded or silvered metal
  • leather items: boots, ankle boots, straps, cases

Materials used: wool broadcloth, cotton, silk, leather, metal.
I prioritise high-quality materials consistent with the practices of the relevant periods.

How a bespoke project works

  1. First contact
We discuss your uniform: period, regiment, desired result, and any constraints.

  2. Quotation and technical guidance
I explain what is feasible, the materials used and the timeline.

  3. Measurements
In the workshop, or via a detailed guide if you are working remotely.

  4. Making
Sewing, assembly, structuring, finishing… each step is carried out with precision.

  5. Fitting and adjustments
To achieve a faithful and comfortable result.

  6. Collection or delivery

Why choose bespoke for historical re-enactment?

  • strict respect for period cuts and volumes
  • careful handcrafted finishing
  • durable, coherent uniforms for events, museums or bivouacs
  • noble materials and appropriate techniques
  • a piece made to your body shape and your documentation

A historical uniform is not a modern costume: it is precision work where every detail matters.
